Today starts a five-part series of Alcatraz, which is part of The Golden Gate National Recreation Area. My husband and I took a night tour during our vacation in San Francisco this past June. I knew it would be a fascinating place, but I had no idea what to expect. To touch the bars inside this penitentiary was truly like stepping back in time.
At one point I was totally alone as I was running to use the rest room before we had to catch the boat back to the mainland. I distinctly heard a very evil sounding laugh from the bushes to my left. I tried brushing it off as some wacked out seagull, but the more I think about it, the more eery that memory seems. I've never heard a seagull of any kind make that sound.
